We'll be inside most of the day since it looks like it will be bad weather, and we don't want to negatively impact the farm.

Sunday 2/24 (Fort Belvoir USO AM; Arcadia's Dogue Farm PM)
900 Breakfast
930-1000 Day's intro
1000-1200 Greenhouse Introduction
1200-1300 Lunch

1500-1530 Drive to Arcadia Farm (Dogue Farm - Larger Production Farm)
1530-1730 Hands on Greenhouse demo & soil sampling/texture demo

We'll end Sunday on the farm. Please bring boots and dress for the weather. The site will be muddy.

On Sunday afternoon, we will leave Fort Belvoir and drive to Arcadia's Production Farm. We will meet at the greenhouse, which we saw last month.
Directions:
Drive north on Route 1 from Fort Belvoir.
Turn Right onto Woodlawn Road.
At the Traffic Circle, take the first exit heading north on old Route 1.
Since we will have a lot of cars, and it has been very muddy, we will need to park along the road, and in the gravel lot in front of the white barn. If you have 4-wheel drive, you can drive through the tunnel and park on and along the gravel drive on the SE side of Rt 1 (farm side).
We will walk to the greenhouse from where we park.

Alternatively, you can feel free to park in the Woodlawn parking lot and walk to the farm from there.

Hi Everyone,

We look forward to seeing you all this weekend. We'll send more information in the next few days in advance of the weekend, but we want to prep you all for the training locations and some logistics for getting onto the site.

First, please RSVP to let us know if you'll be there this weekend. You can reply to just Matt (or cc Pam and Leah) rather than the full list.

This weekend, we'll be meeting this weekend at the Fort Belvoir USO

The address is 5490 9th Street, Fort Belvoir
Here is the map link to find your way once on base.

We'll be at the USO ahead of time, but breakfast will be available (made by Pam") in the USO kitchen at 9am. We'll start promptly by 9:30, but make sure to take advantage of the chance to talk with each other and to eat some tasty breakfast food.

Access to Fort Belvoir:
To access Fort Belvoir, unless you have clearance otherwise (active duty, spouse dependents, some retired/veteran), please enter the base at the at the Tulley Gate.

The Tulley Gate is located off Richmond Highway (Rt. 1) a little less than a mile south of Woodlawn Rd and Arcadia close to the Fairfax County Parkway entrance. Look for Pohick Rd on the east side of Richmond Hwy (across from Backlick Rd on the west side)

Once at the gate, pull to the right. That is the location of the Visitor Center. You will fill out a request for base access and provide your driver's license and explain that you are going to a program at the USO.

The Visitor Center can be reached at (703) 806-4892

Here is a Fort Belvoir map. The Tulley Gate is at D3.

Build in some Wiggle Room!
If you need to go through this process, give yourself an additional half hour. It usually only takes a couple of minutes, but you never know if there is a back up of lots of folks trying to get on base.

Give Matt (202-365-0158) or Pam (202-280-0076) a call if you have any issues ahead of Saturday, or that morning.

See you all soon!
Matt
